Following up on yesterday’s post regarding legislation to make pesticide records open to the public, a trio of new stories highlights the importance of the issue.
First, the Minnesota Daily’s Alex Robinson reports on a University professor’s study of pollutants in runoff. While the professor’s research encounters most pollutants from cars and parking lots, runoff has the same effect in fields.
Indeed, MPR’s Dan Gunderson reports on citizen groups that have gathered evidence of pesticides applied to farm fields migrating to other properties.
Something to think about during this current spate of heavy rains.
